1. Systematics of Crustacea, particularly Isopoda: Phreatoicidea (in collaboration with Buz Wilson) and Isopoda: Cirolanidae.
2. Computer assisted approaches to management of taxonomic information (eg. interactive keys, databases of descriptive and reference data).
3. Structure and function of the marine invertebrate scavenging guild.
4. Introductions of exotic marine organisms.
