The following admission charges only apply to groups which have made a booking with the Australian Museum's Learning Services Booking Officer. Otherwise, the usual full Museum entry charges will apply. Charges vary according to the type of visit you book. The Booking Officer can assist with any enquiries you may have.
Self-guided visits
General entry: $5 per student
Note: Some temporary exhibitions have a higher entry charge.
Kidspace group visits
Booked groups: $5 per student
For costs of additional programs for 5s and under visit the 5s and under site.
Additional costs for sessions with a Museum Education Officer
Please add an additional $3.30 (GST incl.) per student to the general entry price for each hands-on room session, senior science session or Aboriginal Studies talk.

One adult supervisor is admitted free for every:

The Australian Museum is centrally located and adjacent to Hyde Park in Sydney. It is close to bus stops and both Museum and Town Hall train stations. Connecting buses from Circular Quay take you directly to the Museum. (map)
Australian Museum is open 9.30am to 5:00pm every day (except December 25).
Yes, meter parking is available on nearby streets.
There are also two parking stations within easy walking distance of the Museum:
Secure Parking, Riley Street, East Sydney (map) is available from Monday to Friday for a cost of $13 per day if you arrive before 9.30am and leave after 3.30pm.

Cathedral Car Park (run by Enacon Parking) is located just next to the Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic Centre, and less than 5 minutes walk to the Museum. They are at the end of Cathedral St, which runs off St Marys Rd, Woolloomooloo. They have room for 360 cars.

For organised groups there is a coach drop-off and pick-up zone outside the Museum, on College Street.
There is limited parking at the Museum for visitors with wheelchairs. This MUST be booked in advance through Museum Security. Phone: (+612) 9320 6335
The Australian Museum has a diner at the College Street entrance to the Museum. It provides hot snacks, sandwiches, tea, coffee, cold drinks, and a range of confectionery. The Museum Café has table service, a daily lunch menu and morning and afternoon teas.
The Australian Museum has a range of permanent exhibitions about natural history and cultural heritage.
The Museum has a changing program of temporary exhibitions.

The earlier you book the better chance you have of getting the dates and services you want. Some sessions are particularly popular and are quickly filled.
The Museum provides a range of activities for visiting students including tertiary, secondary, primary and English language students.
The Museum has activities specifically designed for students in various stages of schooling at Primary and Secondary. Activities include self-guided exhibition visits and special hands-on sessions with Museum educators.
The Museum has a range of programs, events and resources suited to tertiary students.
The Museum can be used as a learning resource by English language students from a Non-English Speaking Background (NESB), including English as a Second Language (ESL) groups and Intensive English Centre (IEC) groups.
