The Museum is a great place to bring groups of 5s and under. There are many things in the Museum that young children enjoy. Here is information to help you plan your group's outing.
You can do any or all of these:

We can send you a copy of the booklet Let's go to the Museum: special places for 0-5s at the Australian Museum which will help you plan your visit. Phone (+612) 9320 6163 for a copy.
We have also put the key information in this booklet online.
From time to time there may also be temporary exhibitions that are suitable for your group. These exhibitions have an extra charge for adults but children under 5 are free. Children 5 years and older are charged the children's admission. To see what is currently on, go to temporary exhibitions.
This will vary depending on what you want to do.
A visit to Kidspace is $5.00 per child with one adult admitted free* for every two children.
Time to Play workshops are $7.50 per child with one adult admitted free* with every two children. These workshops are held in February and during the first week of each school term. More information on the Time to Play workshops is available here.
A general visit which includes all exhibitions (except Kidspace and some temporary exhibitions) is free for children 5 years and under, with one adult admitted free* for every two children.
*Please note that free adult admission only applies to general admission. If adults in your group wish to see any of the charged temporary exhibitions, they will need to pay the admission fee for those exhibitions.
